For Physicians

The Toby Center partners with medical and mental health professionals to support children and families navigating separation, divorce, and court-ordered services.
Introduction

Welcome to The Toby Center

We are here to help all parties when parents separate. Moms, Dads, Children, Counsel, Guardian Ad Litems, Judges, Case Managers — and the physicians and mental health professionals who support them.

"The Toby Center is neutral. Our only alliance is with the best interests of the child."

Physicians and mental health professionals play a critical role in the lives of families navigating separation and divorce. The Toby Center collaborates with licensed clinicians, therapists, counselors, and social workers to deliver wraparound services that reduce conflict and improve outcomes for children.

Our Research Foundation

Research shows court orders for custody may impact a family for up to six generations — 125 years.

The Toby Center is a complete program of the many services separated and divorced parents and their children require. Our holistic model addresses the individual's emotional, psychological, and physical needs to maximize personal growth.

Staff are compassionate and skilled to offer family members more confidence as they adjust to current changes and transition through co-parenting.

Clinical Service

Therapeutic Supervised Visitation

This visitation service is facilitated and monitored by a clinically licensed person as a therapist, mental health counselor or clinical social worker. Though not considered therapy, the efforts by the facilitating professional are to help parents and children through the challenges of visitation.

The facilitating professional frequently engages all parties including the custodial (at home) parent. An intake is required prior to scheduling Therapeutic Visitation. There is an Intake fee of $120 per party (no fee for children), a separate required procedure to help understand your history, your goals and prior therapeutic treatment.

Clinically Licensed Facilitator
Facilitated by a licensed therapist, mental health counselor, or clinical social worker.
All Parties Engaged
Engages both parents and children, including the custodial (at home) parent.
Intake Required
$120 per party intake fee (no fee for children) prior to scheduling.
Flexible Scheduling
Available evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate client schedules.
Specialized Therapy

Child Reunification Therapy

The Toby Center provides expertise in helping children and their 'targeted' parents explore feelings, find the sources of those feelings, and refocus on what is reality.

Two Specific Goals

a) To strengthen the apparent bonds of affection when the child's affection for the absent or non-custodial parent yet remains emotionally challenged due to loyalty to the residential parent.

b) To fully engage the child with the absent or non-custodial parent in order to prepare the child for change of custody as considered by the foster care agency, the juvenile court, or family court's determination.

"Child reunification must be facilitated by a clinically licensed and uniquely skilled therapist with the ability to see clearly the challenges posed by the child, and the illogic which may be expressed. That therapist must reframe the child's thinking, and must do so with the support of the court in order to succeed."

Court & All Parties Must Agree

The court and all parties must agree to the terms of the Toby Center for process, frequency and location in view of the goals specified by the court and other therapeutic considerations. The Toby Center reserves the right to designate an appropriate location to assist client families.
